Getting to Know Your Character 1 – Introductory

This series of question-formatted posts is loosely organized around different themes offer role players and writers prompts to consider as they develop characters. In this first post, we take a look at introductory questions.

There is an implied ‘Why?’ after each question; elaborate as you feel appropriate!

Introductory Questions

  • Give a brief description of yourself, or describe your character concept in broad strokes.
  • Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or aliases?
  • What is your full birth name?
  • Where do you live?
    • Why do you live there?
    • What is your citizenship status? (citizen, visitor, captive)
  • What is your most obvious blessing or strength?
    • What do you perceive as your greatest strength?
    • Are they the same?
  • What is your most obvious flaw or weakness?
    • What do you perceive as your greatest weakness?
    • Are they the same?
  • What caused these strengths or weaknesses?
